We’re leading on LEED

What Dooge does to help customers gain LEED points

U.S. buildings are one of the hungriest consumers of natural resources in the world–eating up 40 percent of all raw materials used globally, according to the USGBC. There’s no question: if we’re going to become better stewards of the world’s resources, we must make sustainable design a part of the solution.

At Dooge Veneer, we’re committed to helping our clients achieve LEED certification for their projects. And we know that LEED-certified buildings don’t just rise up from the ground. They’re the result of strong leadership, clear goals, and highly collaborative teams of architects, contractors, and suppliers who can work together from the earliest stages, communicate effectively throughout the project, and maintain proper tracking and documentation.

And that’s what we do. We’re a leading source for FSC-certified veneers from around the world. Our inventory of FSC veneers is among the largest on the market—domestic and imported, plain and figured, big logs and small specialty flitches. And our global buying power brings us access to more and more certified species all the time.

Still, as worldwide demand for FSC-certified wood grows, the reality is supply often lags far behind— particularly in domestic species. To accommodate that, the US Green Building Council allows you to earn LEED points by mixing FSC-Certified material with FSC-Controlled materials. The FSC Controlled label assures buyers that the wood is legally harvested in accordance with the traditional and civil rights of the community from which it is harvested. It also assures that the wood is not harvested from protected areas, from the conversion of natural forests, or from areas where genetically modified trees are planted. Our abundant supply of FSC Controlled veneers allows us to help architects meet LEED criteria, even when FSC woods are unavailable.

It’s just one of many ways that Dooge Veneers is working to meet the demand for sustainable woods. Want to know more?
