Chain of Custody

Tracking back to the source

You’ve probably heard of “chain of custody,” but what does it mean and why does it matter?

At its essence, chain of custody is like a river that allows FSC-certified products to flow from forest to marketplace—passing only through the hands of FSC-certified entities—from foresters, to veneer merchants, to mills, and beyond. It’s a way to track materials leaving the forest until they become products downstream.

Dooge is a certified Chain of Custody operation—it’s one of the many ways we demonstrate that we take the environmental concerns of our customers and employees seriously. We’re an essential link between responsible production and consumption, allowing architects and designers to make responsible, informed buying decisions. And our certification guarantees that we’re in compliance with the US Green Building LEED rating system.

We believe that forestry has to be practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way. And tracking the source of forestry products is one of the many ways that we, at Dooge Veneers, are contributing to that goal.
