Natural Character Marks

Much of the natural appeal of wood is found in its distinctly unique markings. Even within a species, no two trees will produce exactly the same color and character. Some species like those pictured below are particularly prized by keen aesthetes for their natural markings such as pin knots, pitch marks, gum markings, and mineral streaks, as well as variations of color and grain that add to the natural character of the veneer.

Learn to see and value the beauty of imperfection, and you open yourself to a whole new way of looking at things.
